Angry Him/Her
Are most angry students male?
I have had more interactions with angry females than angry males.
In either scenario the angry students most often are testing authority, or have issues with female authority figures.
In these case do "we" think it is beneficial to have a third party who is the possibly opposite gender if mediation is necessary? maybe?
Angry female students although rare can occur. I've have a few angry female students however the anger is usually directed at other students over a percieved slight or wrong. "She looked at me funny or made a face at me." The angry male student has been upset over a percieved systemic problem. Normally they feel they haven't been dealt with fairly by the school. In both cases I find understanding, listening and talking the situation out with the student (typically outside of the classroom) tends to de-escalate the problem.
we have very few males in my program so I encounter more angry females. Usually listening and understanding the student helps.
