Cheating
The methods of cheating have become quite complex and I am very watchful of assignments that are obviously copied from others.
Hi Russell,
Isn't that the truth! It is like the blind leading the blind. Put practices in place to deter cheating such as leave an empty seat between students, different versions of test, essay tests, and the good old fashion way, of course is to simply let them know they are being watched.

Not only does the test catch them, but in our classes that are hands on, the skills catch them. When I assess a competency, if you have not read, prepared and attempted the assessment a couple of times, and have let your friends "show them" they tend to fail the competency. I always ask them are your friends going to be with them at externship? It usually never happens again.
If they're going to cheat, they need to cheat from someone smarter; if not, the obscure and wrong answer is spotlighted for both.
I always request EVERTHING to be put on the side of the wall in the class so I know they have no access to anything under the desk, cell phones and all. While testing via a computer I sit in the back of the class so I can see every screen in the class room even while I am not walking around to each of their stations.
Hi Toni,
Fair enough! Students know the rules, and they must abide by them or else.

Hi Robert,
Students will go to the extreme to copy work of others. You have to know you students and want they are capable of.

To discourage cheating via electronic device; I give them a zero if they have their phone, tablet, etc. out during and exam.
cheating only hurts the person cheating. If I don't catch them doing it the test gets them.
