New Technology
It was brought to my attention recently that a student was able to gain access to syllabus containing test questions. It was stated that the student used a cell phone to take pictures of the papers. The current technology does change how cheaters act in the classroom and most instructors are not aware of the speed in which cheating can occur.
Our students use Ipads for everything. Even their textbooks are on them. It is very difficult to monitor them during tests. It cannot be done by staying in the back of the classroom. You have to be able to see what they have on their screens. They could be messaging each other or going back and forth from notes to the test..
Like it mentioned in the course, it is the minority. But I cannot just monitor the 1 or 2 I suspect.
I find it very challenging to stay on top of this.
Now watches are able to transmit text messages and show images. Instructors have to keep up with new technology just to understand its uses and how it can be used to cheat.
This is a very good point. New technology has made it even easier for a student to cheat. Just as we are coming up with a way to deal with one type of cheating, students are already looking for another way.
