mantaining professionalism
As an instructor, students look up to you with high expectations. By maintaining professionalism in and out of the classroom, the students will repsect you as an instructor and a individual.
Hi Ron,
I do not see a problem with socializing with graduates as long as the instructor maintains a level of professionlism. Socializing with current students is definitley a no no.
Patricia
I agree with maintaining professionalism, but socializing with graduated adult students should not be discouraged. In proper settings and events, mixing with former students is always interesting. Professionalism would dictate that socializing while drinking or other possibly objectionable activity should be avoided.
Hi Gail,
I am a firm believer in maintaining professionalism off campus as well. We all have some type of social life, but during our outtings we need to check out the scene to ensure our students are not at the same event. Professionalism is everything.

Teachers can maintain their professionalism by treating each student with respect and dignity. The teachers should remain cool, calm and collected as much as possible in front of the students. The teachers should maintain their professionalism off campus as well. We have a graduation ceremony that the teachers attend. Sometimes we go out after the ceremony and some of the students are in the same place. The teachers will all sit together and not sit and socialize with the students there, even though they are graduates.
Hi Nicole,
Students watch our every move. We must maintain a level of professionalism at all times; even when we are off campus.
