Common new Instructor mistakes
A mistake some new insturctors make is coming into the classroom thinking that they know everything based on the feild experience and the did not prepare before coming to class.
And there's nothing wrong in having to admit that you don't know the answer right now, but you'll find the answer before the next class.
Hi Vicki,
Promptness does not have to be the main focus when answering a question. It is okay to tell a student I need to research that question, and I will have an answer for you the next class period. Accuracy is more important than promptness when answering students questions.

Many times new instructors think they have to have all the answers immediately and they respond rather than making sure their response is accurate.
Hi Georgia,
Preparation is key even if you are extremely knowledgeable.
