Professional Control
When you are a professional it is ok to talk about your family if you are making a point about a discussion that is going on in class, but do not dominate the discusson; leave time for other students to elaborate.
Hi William,
I only use real life examples that are applicable to the lesson. If you feel the information is too personal, do not share it.
Patricia
I feel it's OK to do this occasionally to provide real life examples but you also need to safeguard private details that could be used against you later if someone decides to stalk you or use the info to emotionally blackmail you.
Hi Vanessa,
I agree! As long as family is applicable to the topic, use them as examples.
Patricia
I agree. I would just like to add when talking about your family in making a point about a discussion it should probably be on a rare occasion because it is quite easy to become habitual. Family life is happening everyday so there is always multiple applications to teaching points and discussions.
