As a Surgical Technology instructor, I require that my students wear scrubs, they have short unpolished fingernails, minimual jewelery and anyone with shoulder lenght hair wear it up off the shoulders. I enforce this by my own dress, I wear scrubs everyday, my nails are short and unpolished, I wear almost no jewelery and my hair is always up. I feel that by leading by example my student will have more respect for me as well as "know" this dress is what is expected of them.
Looking professional lets students know that your all business when it comes to classroom management and their learning.
