Hi Fred,
I understand! Try having the students give you something unique about them to help you remember their name.
Patricia

I will try something similar. unfourtunately, in my class set up, the practicality of the lab does not allw for chairs (except foe lectures and tests). I do not have the luxury of place cards. I usually take longer than usual to remember names unless thy make an impression.

I know that all instuctors SHOULD remember the students names, but most of them admit that they stuggle with this. I would like to hear more ways that instructors deal with this issue, to find the one that best suits me, and all our instructors.

I love this approach you described. I am going to use that.

Thank you.

TO REMEMBER STUDENT NAMES, I HAVE FIRST GIVEN OUT A SHORT "GET TO KNOW YOU" SHEET, HAVE THEM TURN THEM IN...I PASS THEM BACK OUT TO THE CLASS....EVERYONE GETS SOMEONE ELSES SHEET. EACH STUDENT "INTRODUCES' THE STUDENT WHOS SHET THEY HAVE, USING THE STUDENTS NAME REPETEDLY ON PURPOSE TO LET IT SINK IN FOR ALL STUDENTS AND I TAKE NOTES. I MAKE NOTE OF HAIR COLOR, INFO FROM THE SHEETS ETC.... I MAKE SURE TO ASK QUESTIONS USING THE STUDENTS NAME.
