Student lead discussions
How beneficial is it to let students lead chapter discussion?
Hi Pam,
I always choose the groups, and I make sure to balance the groups based on academics; meaning I always make sure I have a scholar student in each group, an average student, and a somewhat low academic student.

How do you best set up your groups? Do you let students choose or do you choose the groups?
I let students break into groups to go over sections in a chapter. After each group completes their section the information is presented by the group to the class. I am there to help answers questions if needed and to keep the groups on track. This works well for long chapters as the students participate so they are less likely to get board with the information if it is lengthy.
Hi Lynnette,
It can be very beneficial as long as the information is coveyed with a level of understanding by all students.
