MISTAKES ARE MADE, BUT A TEACHER ALWAYS HAVE TO CHECK HER MATERIALS ALWAYS THE NEXT DAY TO BE READY?

To a certain degree, I learned this lesson the hard way. When I first began instructing, I was teaching two classes that were very similar. When it came time for the first quiz, I handed out the wrong quiz (I actually handed out the first quiz for the other class). I thought that I was organized and had everything planned, but I did not double check. Needless to say, a rush of panic and embarressment ran through me. The next class I tried to use humor and present it to the class as a lesson that I learned. I also realized that if I was getting confused on my assignments, then surely the students were as well (many of the students were taking both courses). From then on, I changed the headings on my assignments and handed out a calendar. This greatly helped me as well as the students.

Hi Laura,
As instructors we must stay in ready mode. Always remember to check and double check what you have planned. Triple checking would not hurt anything.
