
How do you approach the situation that occurs when students compare you to other instructors: "Mr. Soandso never had us do this...", especially if that instructor has an excellent reptutation with a lot of students?

I let the students know that every instructor's style is different. Hence, I cannot be like Mr. Soandso. With that kind of response, I do not challenge the other instructor's approach and at the same time, I do not back down on my approach just because students want me to do so.
