Instructor Respect
Our students will respect us more when we are fair, impartial, see that we do in fact make mistakes, but recover from them professionally, and present a good model for them to follow.
Hi Linda,
Your thoughts are definitely one of a true professional educator. I can tell you lead by example, and your students respect you based on the way you carry yourself.
Patricia Scales
While we all have a tendency to want to be liked, it
is far better to be respected. With respect comes a level of competency which is expected by the student and under which the student can thrive. We
certainly can exhibit friendliness in order to encourage the students to do their best, but we must
hold ourselves to a higher level than "friend" to keep our students interested and able to succeed.
