We are only human.

Even though we are instructor we still continue to learn as we teach.

Hi Eddie,
Sometimes students do want to know more than they really need to, and you have done an exceptional job handling yourself with this type of activity from your students. I teach computer software classes, and a lot of time students want to know how to fix computers. I tactfully/professionally let them know that that type of knowledge is beyond my scope, but I can help you with any software problem that exists.

I thoroughly agree with this statement, and the fact that we have to be open to learning as we go along. As a very experienced Medical Assistant, new to the teaching field, I find that a lot of the questions my students raise are relevant to the subject, but not in the scope of an MA's responsibility and it took me a bit to find a tactful answer that professionaly says "i was an MA, not a doctor, so I have never needed that level of knowledge on the subject" Students respect you when they know that YOU know what you know, and what you don't! ;-)
