Common Mistake
Being human is the best quality our students can see of us.
As a baking/pastry instructor, there are many times when I make mistakes during my demos. Some students laugh, some of them seem disappointed. But then a lot of students tell me that it makes them feel better to see me make mistakes...because it takes the pressure off them. Of course I remind them that yes I am human and I make mistakes. It's also difficult to be perfect when I have a bunch of people with their eyes directly on me watching my every move. But yes, mistakes happen. If you don't make mistakes, leave it to me, I will make enough for all of us!
I tell my students that I make mistakes, it to relax them so that they know that this is normal.
We are human and humans are bound to make mistakes. Having said that, Mistakes are the stepping stone to success. No one is perfect, learning by our mistakes also teaches us that we can better ourselves. This is translated to the students in being a better, refined instructor.
Hi Kristin,
Yes, we make mistakes, simply because we are human too. Students seeing our human side lets them know that we do not know everything, and mistakes are okay as long as you learn from them. and they do not become repetitive.
