I'd have to say that I agree with you. I also know that if I was a student I wouldn't want to be friends with my teacher on facebook. That is for my personal use, and doesn't concern school. As an instructor, I would educate my students on their use of facebook, however, as some employers nowadays will do a search on a potential employee and if they discover excessive partying, drunk pictures, etc. that could hinder their chances of employment. When you get a job you are a representation of that company so some companies are going to be very strict on what they view as acceptable. My new manager and I were just discussing facebook on my first day. He made a good point that he has some co-workers on his LinkedIn account, but chooses to keep facebook personal. However, it was up to me if that issue ever came up with co-workers.
