Importance in the classroom
It is important to separate your personal and professional life. the minute you step through the work door, you leave all your problems there until your done with your day. Personal problems cant be brought into the classroom.
Hi Ellie,
Absolutely! Students have enough worries of their own. They do not need to be burdened with our worries.

It is true that students can see pick up on stress that the instructor may be carring. While it is important to develop good repore with students it is equally important to maintain the power differential (without lording it over them). If a student asks about my personal life/issues...I defer the question, unless I can relate it to the topic of the class. We, as instructors must have an open ear to the problems our students face, and must be causious not to overstep boundaries and burden them with our worries.
Student have a six sence and can tell when one is having personal issues. Therefore; I try to maintain a professional relationship with all my students and when Im having personal problems its hard for them to notice.
