Moving around the classroom helps maintain attention and prevents disruptive behavior. One of the biggest challenges is keeping students from texting, etc. during class.
Gilbert, teaching is not easy and not for everyone. We as instructors are expected to manage our classrooms and work hard to achieve the desired outcomes of our courses.

I would add that this is particularly difficult when the course itself is focused on a technology subject and the students are provided with in-class access to a web-server. In these situations, students often desire to work on their "real jobs" as well as their course work. The solution of course is more "Management by Walking Around" (MBWA) but that does get tiresome!
Sheri, from my experience those instructors that are very active in the classroom and utilize active learning techniques have fewer issues with extraneous devices such as cell phones and other gadgets.
