I feel I have more of the style of the guide because I love to help students navigate through the educational process and guide them with the right stepps to take to reach their goal that otherwise would not have been able to be reached.
I completely understand what you are saying. Learning should be a fun process, but as you say "fun time" needs to be managed so that the lesson can progress on schedule. It can be a real asset to the classroom when an instructor has the wisdom and patience to be a guide, and not just a controller or buddy to the students.
I feel like I am a mixture of controller, guide and buddy. I know when "fun time" needs to go away and when work time needs brought in.
Holly, has this always been your method or have you made changes over time?

I feel the same way, but at times I feel like I must be somewhat of a controller as well because some students will not cooperate as you try to guide them so at some point force must be utilized.
