paul,
If you can do that early it is always better. Keep working to keep an eye on the students.
Philip Campbell

I would say that noticing a student is having difficulty, understanding what is going on and try reaching out to them before thay fade into background.
I would make sure people group understand their part in working on a team,so that everyone on that team wins and knows what was done, not just going through the motions-caring

In my opinion, the most important quality that sets highly effective instructors apart from others is their ability to get to know each student on a personal level, and tailor a portion of their lecture to these students’s learning style. These instructors have the soft skills necessary to actively engage each individual student and utilize their time outside of the course lecture to build professional relationships with their students. Having a vested interest in their educational growth and development, will give the student’s a sense of belonging and an additional reason to excel in the classroom.

Using your people skills with students by giving feedback, communicating to further enhance the learning environment. My students love the interaction and it builds a team within the classroom.

Good interactions with your students has an affect on how effective an instructors

Mark,
Flexibility is one of the first things that instructors learn to be successful.
Philip Campbell

Being able to adapt to and associate with the different personalities we encounter in the same class. This enables a good instructor to relate the information in a way that they understand.

Scott,
Showing an interest in students goes a long way.
Philip Campbell

In my opinion, ongoing personal interaction inside the classroom with each student on a daily basis is important. I have found that by expressing a personal interest on how each student is doing, they respond better and take greater interest in my class. They feel I am personally interested not only in their well being, but also their progress within my classroom as well. Other instructors who do not appear to be invested I don't feel end up as effective.

Nestor,
Being a nice person will get you far in life and with your students. Being too black and white tends to turn students off.
Philip Campbell

When I think back on my own experiences as a student. The instructors that I never forget are the ones that inspired me to be a better version of myself and to pursue nothing less than the best for myself and my life expectations. Ever since I became an instructors I have received very high marks from my students, but I just couldn't define why this was the way it was. After having gone through this course now I understand better the relationship between EQ and IQ and how this plays a role on may performance as an educator,

Ranita,
Commitment to your craft is a good point.
Philip Campbell

I believe that a highly effective instructor knows her/his audience. Having good possitive energy, knowing your knowledge and commitment to your craft.

In my opinion the most important quality of a highly effective instructor is the ability to "know" your student. When an instructor can do this s/he can taylor those soft skills to the individual.

To be an effective instructor, you must first know the subject matter. All the soft skills mean nothing if you don't know what you are talking about.I totally agree then soft skills play an important part in the students success. Where I teach I see to much soft skills and not enough knowledge and depth of the subject matter fully get the point across. In some cases you can teach what you have been taught. Other times practical expierence is needed to fully explain and teach the concept. The more experience and knowledge, the more avenues you have to clarify and explain the subject matter. Then you can use your soft skills to create an atmosphere to drive it home. In my oppinion, today we have to many nice stupid teachers.

the most important quality setting highly effective instructors apart from others is integrity. Every other quality necessary to be a good instructor falls under the integrity umbrella.
Students will respect you for your integrity. They very likely will follow your example and be more engaged in your class, strive to be as successful as possible in your class, and help their fellow students be as successful as possible.
Students know who the good instructors are - they teach the classes students look forward to instead of dreading.

Keri,
Listening is a valuable skill no matter what industry you work in.
Philip Campbell

In my opinion, showing enthusiasim in the class room can motivate and capture the attention of the students and get them involved in conversations.

This is a very subjective question. However, I truly believe that the mastery of people skills is critical to success as a highly effective individual. If you breakdown each of the soft skills mentioned just in this course you come to realize that they are all interconnected. We must be good listeners in order to provide constructive feedback, motivate others, and exhibit sincere interest in the welfare and success of others. In doing so, you contribute to positive relationships which enhances politeness and tact.

I would have to say someone that cares vs someone who does not, I mean truly cares as if you were the student your self
