People Skills
Do you think education can teach people skills?
I think people skills comes fromt he way we were brough it includes morals and values. for example if we grew up watching our mother constantly fighting with people we will most likely do the same.
I definitely agree that peoples skills are taught at home. I think that as instructors we have to exhibit the behavior that we want our students to adapt. One excellent aspect about our Cosmetology curriculum is a class in People Skills. Some of the topics include Redefining Character (Respect,Integrity, Commitment), Understanding Ourselves and Others (Identifying individual personality traits and those of other people), Goal Setting, and other topics that will help them become successful in the beauty industry. In my opinion, it is easy to teach adult learners people skills, but you can't control their actions. However, I will say that it does make them begin to think about their attitudes, behaviors, and how they feel about themselves. So,I feel that all I can do is be a model to my students,lecture them on those skills, and constructively correct them when they make mistakes.

I think it is hard to teach them, especially to lecture on them. I think examples is a great way to show them how to act and react.
