positive attitude
I believe that having positive attitude is the key to instructing students. What is your favorite soft skill?
Peter, I totally agree, the students need to feel they are the biggest part of not only the learning in the class, but can and will influence the learning attitude, so... if the instructor has a great attitude and shows the students he/she really appreciates thier time and attention, the students can open up and be comfotable in the learning proscess, which will make the class productive.

I teach 6 hour classes. If I don't keep a high level of energy I would loose the attention span of most of the students.
Start the day in class by smiling. Say good morning and thank the class for being there.
Welcome everyone and let them know that ALL of us are here to have a great day and learn from each another.

Thank them at the end of the day and look forward to see them tomorrow and smile.
joseph,
Positive attitude. So much can be overcome just by being positive.

Instructors should always have a positive attitude. Whatever is going on in their life they have to leave at the door and they should have a positive attitude to set the tone of the class.
Integrity is the most important soft skills for an Instructor. Integrity can also be understood as having honor, being honest and trustworthy. Instructors who have integrity will always choose to do the right thing and will teach their students to make great choices. Instructors should be mindful of their assessment of their students. They have to consider that all students are different because of their character, background, and ability to be successful.
