I tell my students that were going to have a spelling bee game or we play hang man. They really enjoy it ,especially when they are on teams. I allow for them to work together on their team to come up with the answers. It also teaches them teamwork!
Julie, I am sometimes amazed at what students create that is much better than I could envision. Thank you for giving your students that opportunity.

I asked each student to create a game using the elements of medical terminology. We all enjoyed playing the different games. The games reinforced and helped evaluate learning. A lot of laughs, friendly competition, and creativity occurred.
Using new and fun techniques helps hold the student's interest level. To help with medical directional terms I have employed a method that has helped the students understand and remember the terms.
I have created a game where the students are divided into groups and are required to create examples of how they would use the term in a sentence. I also have the group demonstrate the term on a dog model. Students pay attention to their peers when they are presenting the terms. I find this to be an overall effective learning tool.
