mapping and notecards
I have starting using a mapping design that allows the student too see the main points in the chapter before lecturing. This has brought great success. I also love using the notecard for students but never realize how it would be beneficial using them in group activities in class. I used notecards studying during my undergrad. I enjoyed your modules and you gave me great insight for teaching medical terminology. I also think a lot of those activities could be used in other classes.
Thanks
Brandon
I've recently used flashcards and the students seem to enjoy doing them.
Linda, I agree that outlining is a way to highlight information prioritizing. You are giving the students that valuable learning tool.

I am a big fan of outlining the chapter for the students before I begin going into depth with it. I think giving them an overview of what is to come is very important so they know what is expected of them. I also believe that note cards are a fantastic way to reinforce the learing material. I require my students to do them for every chapter. It is really important to connect with the students and have some fun while presenting the learning material.
Felicia, many instructors know the value of fun, some are just learning it. Hope it helps your students to be successful, as it has with others.

This module showed more activities that can be used teaching medical terminology and have fun at the same time.
brandon, I'm glad you can see that some of these activities are applicable to your other courses, too.
