RAJINI, it is indeed satisfying to see that learning has occurred.

Whenever a student gets the concept, I get excited and I feel that I finally have improved my teaching technique .

I was once posed this question by a student of mine and my answer to her was that everyone learns differently. Learning from my students helps me adjust my instruction. Their perception of what is being taught might be different and new perspectives create discussion.

Arlinda, we need to teach general and specific content.

Because you want to gain knowledge in your subject area

I would want to be a learner in my class because of the attention that i pay to detail,it allows for more indepth learning

yes,and the life experiences I learn from my students never ceases to amaze me.

I would want to be a learner in my own class to see if my teaching strategies are effective. I believe I have a solid balance between lecture, discussion, and active learning so that my students are engaged, but seeing the table from the other side would be nice, too.

"Learning is a life long process" so the saying goes.Being a leraner in my own class helps me understand how to manager my class better by learning the way my students think and why they reason or think the way they do. That will help me relate with them better. Also some student always have some new ideas to present which are sometimes a source of tremendous knowledge for the instructor

Tammy, using a controlled stretch break as you have sdescribed here is a good refocusing idea.

I make class fun, but I am serious at times as well. Students participate and get to talk about true stories and give me their opinions.

I like to incorporate fun into my teaching style, and consistantly encourage student participation in the class. If the content gets too boring or I start to notice loss of focus, I will initiate a learning exercise that requires standing and moving about the classroom.

I teach in a post seconday vocational school and get students in a spectrum ranging from fresh graduates from high school to some coming back to school after twenty years. I employ a technique called come to the level of student, not only physically but most importantly psychologically.

I try to teach them Medical Terminology in ENGLISH e.g., why are we trained not to talk while eating, why can not we speak while taking a breath in.

I also ask them to feel proud about learning a new language.

The course I teach is what I do every day in the work force so I try to instill the real work world by giving them real diagnoses and procedures. Real stories I feel halp them understand what this profession has in store for them.

Damian, I like word association games, too.
