Most days I'd love to be a "learner" in my class because I do try like crazy to keep things interesting. Very often I attempt to relate the subject to something that most are already familiar with which in the long run helps them to remember it. A colleague of mine makes up stories about absolutely everything and the great part is that even when the student can't remember the "technical" words right away, they remember the story and eventually get there.

Because this keeps me more active in the class by also learning in the classroom. Making me more teachable.

I'd like to be a learner in my class because I really engage my students. medical terminology is the first course that the students take in their program and engaging them takes away those "first-day" blues, so to speak. I also create a sense of family - we're all looking out for each other and sometimes, just this sense of belonging spells the difference!
Of course, I would like to be one of the learners in my class also because I'd like to take the pulse of the class - know if there is much more i can improve on to make the class even better.

This is an example of great teaching, which to me includes being open to learning from your students.
