Question and Answer relay race
I am very excited to try this technique to learning in my med term class.
Sometimes its is like an information overload for them and I can see them lose all focus. I think this activity will help and build retention of the information.
Has anyone used this?
richard, I'm glad you are adapting these activities to fit the students preferences.

My class is so diverse, it might be better using a form of soccer than trying to teach them the intricacies of baseball. Candy as a reward, only sugar free
Absolutely, I have utilized this not only in medical terminology, but in just basic review questions when going over content. I have found some initial resistance, but the competiveness of the game wins out. I have two teams, have the questions on 3x5 cards and placed in a card shuffle device. Whom ever reaches the board, writes the correct answer and had the marker down first; wins the point for the team. This adds great excitement and lots of laughs. We all have an enjoyable time. The more dry the content, the better the game.
Shannon, thank you for sharing your teaching idea and how to do it. This will help others to replicate your idea successfully.

I like to use a form of this activity. I use this activity before quizzes. The students line up in two columns and have a sort of "face off" with the person in the other column. I ask a question or give a definition and the first person to answer correctly stays at the front of the line until they do not answer a question correctly. The person who does not answer correctly moves to the back of the column. We keep moving through the column until we have made it through all of the terms or definitions. Students enjoy doing this because it gets them up and out of their seats, and it is competitive.
I agree, when teaching dry content it has to involve an active approach.
I like the game suggestions. I will make a few changes but I think this will be great to keep students awake. MT can be so boring.
I am also eager to try this idea. I have used various other games but this sounds like something I could integrate into my class and might really engage my students.
I have used it and have had positive results.
