Usefull games for any subject
I am really excited to try some of these games. I plan to try all of these games. They are simple and there isn't a lot of fuss to them. I actually think my students will like the games. There may be a few that will moan about it but for the most part I think they will be greatful to be learning the material a new way. Has anyone who has tried these games come across any major roadblocks or downfalls?
nicole, it's always good to try new activities to keep the students interested.

I am really looking forward to trying out these games in my classroom. They are fun, easy, and I know they will engage the students. The students really enjoy the games I play now -- but I think instituting these games will be even more beneficial to their learning process.
Maryrose, that can add fun to repetition.

I am looking forward to applying these types of games in my A&P classes as well. There is so much med term in every chapter. I give vocab quizzes every week and comprehensive vocab on finals. All the games would do well as a review and it would put a little fun in learning.
Mary,
I love when students walk into my classes and do not know what to expect. It gives them a sense of curiosity and anticipation.
I am especially looking forward to playing the baseball game. I love to surprise my student with kooky activities. I find that rearranging the room for the game peaks their curiosity and also adds to the excitement of the game.
I'm glad you are planning on using the secret identity activity.
I'm so glad this course was available- medical terminology can be so dry to teach! Also, I have some older students who fall asleep, so this is a great way to get them up and about. I like the mingling theme of the secret identity game- some of my classes are clique-y, so this will make them mix with people they normally wouldn't. Great ideas!
They get very competative when they. It;s fun to watch them learn. I do mix it up at times and they have to play againt me. If they win i give them 2-4 extra credit points on their next quiz or midterm or final.
I will try the flyswatter game, it sounds effective.
These games will come in handy. I will be sure to thry them.I have also used the fly swatter game. The studentshave their backs to the wall. you give the definition, they must find the word on the board and erase it and get a point. Hangman the have to answer the questions and pice a letter and try to figure out the term.
I am excited to try these new games! I agree that games are very useful especially with med term.
I use different types of games one of them is spellingbee contests for latin and greek words.
I can't wait to start using some of these games! I'm always looking for something different and exciting to try in my Med Term classes as the material gets boring at times for my students.
If you begin by using a game you like, it goes over much better as your enthusiasm shows. I have also found an explanation before the game that this new approach will increase their memory of terms, helps to make it more successful. Remember, not every learner likes lecture, so not all of them will like games. Variety is the key to reaching everyone.
