In our class room we use a Jeopardy format and divide the room into teams - Students sem to like the activity and will usually request it. They also like to take the word part cards and make as many terms as they can in a given timeframe. some of the words they come up with can be interesting.
I do not teach medical terminology, but I teach medical coding. I have found that the students enjoy playing games to review for an exam and retain the information when it is a game.
I've not taught medical terminology in the past but look forward using these activities - esp. football and baseball games. After finishing this module, I found myself thinking of other possible activities - such as a team race and across the room to match a term with difinition with points deducted for wrong matchups.

I have put the medical terms on index cards with the definitions on the back, divide the class into two groups, line up and have the first person from one line answer the card. If correct, the card goes into their stack, if incorrect the other line gets a chance. Basically, the line with the most cards at the end of the game wins.
Quizlet is website a where you can make flashcards and create quizzes & tests. I have played games with my class using this website before. It is good for the non-athletic type since it requires no physical activity!
Susan, I like the way the students have to have all four cards to be complete.

In kinesiology we play "Go Fish". Students are dealt 5 cards and the remaining cards are in the draw pile. Students attempt to collect all four cards for a muscle (name-yellow, action-green, insertion-pink, origin-orange) by asking other students for the needed card. If the student they ask does not have the needed card they reply "go fish" and the student draws from the pile. If the student guesses correctly and receives the card requested or draws the card they go again. The winning team finishes with the most books (all 4 cards for a muscle). I imagine you could design cards for any topic that would allow groups of terms to be catagorized into 2, 3, or 4 in a group.
