I love getting students out of their seats and moving around but it helps me just as much. I also am moving around, not just behind a desk and after the activity feel ready to get back to business. Thanks for all the new ideas.

Vania, thanks for your positive advice about your success with activities.

I strongly agree that movement helps students get more engaged, helps them stay more alert, more interested and motivated to come next class. They also feel more confortable and have better interaction with their classmates and the instructor, which improves participation as well. I used several different games in the past for a Masters degree course, where adult students had fun and enjoyed my classes as well as learned the content.

I agree that the more movement the moe engaged my students tend to be.

I agree. I don't like sitting at my desk. Getting the students involved keeps them on their toes.

Ellen, I like this red rover idea and will try it myself. Thanks!

I often get bored with power point no matter how engaging I try to make them. Lectures are better for me because I'm animated and moving but my poor students are stuck in their seats. I find that playing simple games such as assigning students a prefix, a combing form and a suffix then get into two lines and call eachother over similar to the kids game Red Rover, Red Rover to stand together to make a med term. It is fun and engaging and teaches them how to form new words.

Virginia, you are welcome and I hope you get to use many of them in future classes.
