I have used the Koosh ball, it is fun and it will keep your class awake. It also has created a trust in my class. I had a student who was very shy and reluctant to join the class in discussion once we stated the Koosh ball she had a teammate and that help develop a bond and trust quickly followed. This is a wonderful exercise!!!
