Puzzle Generator

ArmoredPenguin.com is a FREE puzzle generator that I use all the time.

You can create word scrambles, word finds and crossword puzzles (among others- these are just the most relevant).

For word finds and word scrambles- I usually create a list of clues, and don't provide the term itself. Instead, students use the definitions provided to figure out which word they're searching for or unscrambling.

This is great thank you for this heads up!!!

Great site! I use classroomgameshow.net. It's a jeopardy style game generator that is interactive rather than using a power-point type format. The only hitch is that it should be used in a computer lab where each student has access to a computer.

Cool, thanks for the website! Sounds like these websites make this process so much easier.

It seems to me like word finds are very basic- do you think that they really help the students remember and retain the terminology?

We're not trying to stump the students. Assisting new student to word finds/crosswords with clues can make a slower student feel more successful.

Erika, by answering a question, they must think and be able to spell the words and know the term's meaning.

I like your tip on the word find. Sometimes just finding the word does not give students the experience they need. Having them find the answer to a question first is a great way of double learning for them.

Forrest, using these tools as described makes them informal quizzes.
