
At least 80% of the students I see are visual. Many times I have them come to the board and actually draw what they think they have learned. It again steps them out of the box and we laugh and all learn together.
So, Kleinkauf, it is like you give them a lifeline on the game show, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire."
I also have students go up to the board to break down medical terms. I ease the stress of going up to the board by letting them know that they can call on someone else to come up and help them. This activity seem to work and the students enjoy it and take notes.
Tracy, asking people to add color to relevant pictures or notes is a great visual strategy.
I not only use the white board but I also try to find things for them to color or read that is relevant to what we are learning.
