Importance of involvements & mental engagement

Students are best engaged when given visual and hands-on activities.

Laurel, I hope my suggestions will benefit your classes, and ultimately your students.

I believe that too often instructors are stuck on one method of teaching. There are many modes of learning. We, as professionals, are required to find every possible way of reaching every one of our students, be it games, puzzles, whatever. It is our job to bring success to every student. Thank you for all of your suggestions.

Cheryl, your approach makes success possible for all the students. Thanks for sharing it!

I agree about creating a visual reference for the word. It's also helpful to bring in the life-size models from the anatomy and physiology lab while you discuss conditions of a certain organ or body part. Allow them to view the organ while discussing pertinent terminology.

i agree as well, activities that will motivate the students and help them understand the material is always a plus, and fun as well

William, visual learners are the largest percentage of the population.

I believe that most of us have a strong visual learning component and need to create a picture of the word or term so that we can relate to it.

I agree,I always check on the students knowledge and understanding by asking a lot of questions. This is a good way to refresh their memory and make them retain more informations.

I agree, memorization is only part of the learning process. These activities are fun and help long term memory.

I also agrree with this style and point of teaching. Especially in the medical field, demonstration and explanation followed by Q&A is an excellent way to monitor the classes understanding.

I TEND TO AGREE WITH THIS POINT. BECAUSE ONCE I HEAR IT AND THEN SEE IT DONE; I CAN RETAIN THE INFORMATION AND THE CONCEPT THAT IS BEING TAUGHT. SO THATS WHY I TEACH MY STUDENTS THE SAME WAY. I PROVIDE THE INFORMATION AND THEN DEMONSTRATE AND THEN I ASK QUESTIONS THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO MONITOR IF THE STUDENT FULLY UNDERSTANDS THE INFORMATION.
