Charades
I have not ever thought about doing charades in the classroom before. I think that this can be a very fun and valuable tool especially in medical terminology. I will definitely have to try this one in the near future.
Anatomy and physiology would be an excellent place to use these techniques. I think a team game similar to pin the tail on the donkey would be fun and helpful.
shannon, I'm glad you will take some of these ideas and apply them to your pathology and medical terminology class.

I agree learning has to be fun! I have an upcoming pathology & medical terminology class and I have been searching for ways to make it a more active learning environment. I am definately going to incorporate several of the suggested activities to help solidify the information as well and make a dry subject enjoyable.
Stephanie, I'm glad you are aware of the importance of positive emotion in students.
Michele Deck
I agree that the students remember the funny antics because it creates a positive emotion linked to the words and makes them be able to retain the information.
Johan, in larger classes, you can break people into smaller groups to complete this activity also.

Plus this give the chance for the students to get up and move around the classroom if things are getting kinda boring for them. It is a great group activitie for smaller groups
Charades is a great way to engage the students and they tend to remember the funny ones the most.
I love modifying games for the classroom! What a great idea. Can you give more specifics?
Karen, thank you for seeing these ideas as more than just teaching ideas for terminology.

I totally agree with you and after learning these new games and such I can also use them in other classes such as A and P
