Learner-Centered Quiz

A learner centered quiz should be designed to cover weekly course material in an effort to gage a student learning ability in communicating the subject.

I completely agree with you. That's why I'm not so sure about the concept of letting students take quizzes as many times as they want. When this happens, it's difficult as an instructor to discern if they are actually learning or simply regurgitating answers.

Stephanie,
Pre and post-tests are nice for the students to see what they have learned and what is still confusing for them. Too many of these pre and post-tests may make the students think about reading the material before the pre-test. So limit your pre and post-tests.

Charolette,
Good point. Students can read, but do they understand what they read. Instructors need to follow up on items that were missed by the testing.

Shelly Crider

True. I'm wondering when the quizzes are most useful. Pre-test? Post-test? Level of schooling? What are your thoughts?
