Using integrated media
I have found that using integrated media in the online learning experience has been most helpful for me personally, particularly when it is interacive, i.e., film clips that require responses.
I find that I don't spend a lot of time using integrated media, simply because it takes a great deal of time to find the appropriate interactive information to incorporate. The only place that it would be utilized is in the live chats that I conduct. However, the chats are not mandatory for students to attend, which further exacerbates my motivation to spend additional time researching for fun material.
Mark, I agree...which is why I mentioned in one of my other posts that I think online courses may actually take more time to prepare than face to face. Looking for and finding appropriate clips and other media takes massive amounts of time... Probably because I get side tracked as I wander around in cyberworld with all that's available. But having to view and deem appropriate is where I spend most of my time. Then getting it ready for publish is of course the rest of it. But I agree....most of the time the interest it generates is worth it.
