Surveys
I like the idea of opening a live chat with a survey- as well as adding a survey to the home page of any course I teach. It gets people engaged- and generates interesting results.
Dawn ,
If you have shared experience along the way, the more likely the students will participate for you.

Just curious how much of a response you get from students. Seems like there might be a portion of students that do not bother to participate since there is no grade attached to it. What is your success rate with online students participating in surveys and do you offer any incentive to complete it?
Dawn Huber
The usage of a survey during this time is very helpful. The survey will allow you to access the level of understand that the students have on a specific topic.
Nashid,
This is a hard topic as you can lead a horse to water but not make him drink.....same with our online students!

I have not had great success in encouraging students to submit an EOCS. I speak to the benefit of innovation, change management and progress. Though there are benefits -- motivation seems to be a key. Instructor surveys are mandatory - however.
Bonnie,
Especially if the surveys are open ended questions or at least gives the opportunity to give an extended answer.

Surveys are a great way to get immediate student feedback.
Breezy,
Exactly...without surveys we really do not know what could be improved upon.

I think that surveys are good to include when it comes to teaching/designing an online course. To me with the use of surveys this helps me to develop the class at a more structural course according to my students needs while making sure that all concepts are covered in the course.
Ken,
I like this idea! A survey is something that students like to do and gives extra insight!
