Why is media or video clips important?

We all have different ways in which we learn. On-line education works well with every "learning style" if the instructor uses ways to incorporate various ways of learning into the instructional part of the class.
Examples of each learning style is important.
Students that are visual or audio type learners may benefit from such web links as You Tube or the OIG HEAT clips regarding Fraud, Waste and Abuse.

I teach Spanish 101. For language learners it is necessary to listen to native speakers in authentic settings in order to practice their listening comprehension skills. I find that using YouTube videos and other videos from authentic Spanish sites is very useful.

I think you are right. Clips, videos, voice over powerpoint presentations are all wonderful ways to get students involved.

I think clips are important because they breathe life into your presentation. Illustration, reality, additional description...I use clips a lot to bring real world illustration into my course. Especially in criminal justice courses, the world is always changing...better to get my students ready for the reality of it...I owe them that life lesson!

I remember short attention span of today's students. This made me initiate a 20 minute time limit per media. This way student's are stimulated and stay attentive.

So during a Powerpoint presentation to embed media or video clips enhances the instructional content, keeps student's attention and appeals to all the various types of learners.

I have found that if I attach a link to a website that has a short animation or video describing the subject matter it reinforces what I am teaching.

We live in “You Tube” world and we might as well use this to our advantage to help illustrate what we are teaching.

Taking into account the different learning styles is very important when building the online course. I enjoy the variety that MaxKnowledge provides with audio and visual examples, often times both, in the lessons.

I also like to use fun videos on topic, but that are more enjoyable to provide a comfortable fun atmosphere in the classroom. The students enjoy them, and will often mention them with a positive and energetic response. I think they are important in retention needs.

I have observed that many students benefit from video clips and lectures. It provides them with enhanced dynamic content. Another benefit from using video media to deliver content is that the student can reference back to the content at any given time for review.

I teach film production and always utilize video with each lesson. With the topics I teach, I find it crucial to give the learners a visual of whats being discussed.

Oh they are very important especially in today's learning environment. Students today live off of video content and they are driven by it. In my classes every time we take a break the are on a social media site or youtube to see the latest video. Due to this reason alone I think that they retain more information by watching a video they can control the speed in which they watch the video they can pause and walk away and come back when they are ready. The only thing I find to be an issue with videos is that a great majority of them are too long. Students will not sit through a 30 min video and if they do you lost them after 10. So if they are to be used they should be short and to the point.
