How much techology is needed
For a successful online experience the student as well as the instructor, should have basic computer skills. Since different institutions uses different platforms. There should be some raining on have to be successful using the LMS before the course starts.

Try imagining your life without technology. Without alarm clocks, refrigerators, computers, telephones and so on. It would be very different from what we are accustomed to today. The truth is, all of us rely on technology a great deal to get through the day. Whether it's at work, at home, or at school, I know my family depends greatly on technology. Without technology our lives would all be much different.
That is the mind set I usually go in with ... that students are not technically knowledgeable. This means that step by step instruction is needed. For this I usually create step by step video snippets of how to perform technical tasks for them to watch.

Not just computer skills, but they need to meet computer qualities as well. Will their computer be able to view all content?

I do agree, students are expected to have some minimal computer skills specially to attend online courses, this is something that we need to teach our students going forward, online training is here to stay.

We would like to think that all students will have basic computer skills, but in reality, some have next to none!
