Quality Online Course
Distance or online education programs must develop and maintain quality educational options to successfully compete with conventional academic offerings; institutions cannot maintain a competitive edge solely from innovation of the online delivery format. The quality of online programs lies at the heart of the effort to attract more learners to online learning and to provide them with comparable—if not better—education quality than they can get by attending classes on campus. A quality educational program begins with the development of quality courses.
carol,
Nice post! I would have to agree. Even a badly laid out course can be exciting if the instructor is excited about the content and shows it by showing up in discussion!

I know we've all had those online course facilitators that made the course very frustrating. The course itself may have been high quality and relevant, but the instructor was the obstacle to success. We've all had them in face to face courses as well, but we had the interaction of others to get us through it. The online course instructor was not helpful with long delays before responding to our questions. Those of us who got through the course did so by banding together in real time phone conversations, but many dropped the course. So while course quality is of utmost importance...I believe it's the instructor that drives it.
Ms. Hallman, I agree with your position. Many online courses lack quality, and instructor involvement. It takes both to have a successful online course.
Kimberly ,
You are so right.....to get the quality education you must have a great course with a great instructor.
