Structure of Our Online Courses

When I set up a course for each instructor. I explain to them they need to make online announcements as well as providing step by step instructions. I also have a library tab so that the links are available to every student in that course.

Carlo,
Students use their technology, so we need to teach to them!

I like the idea of a library tab for the students. I’ll have to add that into my classes. I found that encouraging the students to form a Facebook group for the class, so they can discuss material and setup study sessions if possible. I also have them send me the link for the group and post it on the class webpage. I have been told by the students that they also use the Facebook page to study for other online classes.

Steve,
This is a good place to add useful resources as well!

The online announcements are a great method to engage students. For each particular course I will post an announcement anywhere from 1 to 3 announcements per week. Typical announcements include reminders of deadlines and related course events. I may also use this opportunity to announce what it coming up in the next week or lesson ahead. I also reinforce this by reminding students during a resident course to be sure to check for new announcements and read all of them as they are important and usually time-sensitive.

PatJohn,
Love the library tab idea....this shows the students and instructors where to go to get extra resources.
