Learning Objectives
All assignments must map to the Learning Objectives, but one thing that wasn't mentioned is that learning objectives map to the Course Description.

Good point.....students do want to have a reason for learning whatever is in front of them!

Adults need to know what it is that they will be learning and what it is that they will be accomplishing. The objectives of the learning needs to be clear as well. They also need to know what they will get from learning this new skill. They are basically looking for the reason why they should be learning something new. Adults will not be willing to invest their time or effort into something that they believe has no value to them.
I think you make a good point, ensuring that learning objectives align with the course description should not be assumed. I believe there is value in tying in the objective to the course description.
