Learning differences

Today’s teachers face many challenges in the classroom. We live in an era where schools
are accountable for the learning of all students (regardless of their background). Teachers
are expected to provide a rigorous and relevant core program while also providing
supplemental and intensive levels of support for students whose needs are not being met
by core. This includes students who are struggling to meet minimum competencies as well
as students who have instructional needs that extend beyond grade level expectations. To
ensure that all students are receiving the instruction they need to be successful, it is
important to consider the research and best practice regarding teaching for learner
differences.

Bernadette,
Yes, there is always a challenge for the instructor to keep learning and moving forward with new technology. Creating learning environments, however, where students are free to apply various technology tools in their own learning is very helpful and engaging.

There are so many applications and tools to incorporate into the classroom especially online, no reason why students won't become engaged..
As an instructor it helps to keep me on top of technology where a few years ago, I didn't want to embrace it...:-)

Breezy,

This also have relevance for preparation for today's workplaces.

I agree with your post. I think that it’s very important that new technology is introduced to students because there are many people who have different learning styles. So as an online instructor its very important to try and touch on all levels of learning.

Great point! I also wish there was a way for us to become aware of the different learning styles proactively, rather than throughout the course of the term.

Michael,
Yes, and new technology can help modify, support, and produce learning for all students.
