Screen Capture
The course discuss screen capture. I have used PrintScreen and Snipping Tool to capture what is on the screen. Which of these do you prefer?? I prefer to use the snipping tool because it allows me to cut out just the part I need.
Kimberley,
I agree. Sometimes I think that we put students in information overload in our courses. You make a great point.

I think that both are great tools to narrow the focus on one particular area that you would like the student to see. With so much information in the course I find that using these tools gives my students the information they need as quickly as possible.
Morissa,
Thank you for sharing. That is a nice feature. That is what I love about online instructors; the sharing of great apps!

I use PrintScreen, but there are so many out there now that they all have terrific functions. One of the things I like about this one is that I can edit or block some things out with Paint or another jpeg editing tool.
Margaret,
You are right. I too love using it and it doesn't take long to learn. Great post.

I enjoy the use of Snipping Tool for the same purposes as listed here. Most recently, used the tool to develop operating guidelines for file share usage.
Judy,
Yes, it works similarly online. There are "for educational use" policies. You may want to google those policies or ask your distance group.

I am learning about computer function as I learn to teach online. How much of the material available to us is copyright free? I know in my F2F classes I can use somethings freely for the purpose of education, but others are carefully guarded. Does it work the same online?
Fred,
I actually use Jing and Tegrity. Jing is free and TEgrity is a tool that our university purchases. Both will allow you to edit and students can use both to create their own presentations.
