Demonstrating how to do a statistical analysis
I teach a research methods course, SPSS. I've found that synchronous demonstrations of how to set up and do an analysis in SPSS is the most effective method because students can ask questions and let you know if they are understanding. However, this is not always possible so a screen capture demonstration would be a good way to provide an illustration on a number of different types of analyses.
I'd be interested in hearing how others have used screen capture and if there are any tutorials on setting one up.
Donald,
That is true. I was just watching Ted Talk about why we learn math. I am thinking of adding it to my freshman level course. I never knew that I was good in math until I went to college. Statistics was so much fun for me and gave me my confidence back.
The TedTalk was by Arthur Benjamin.

Most people hate math and statistics because they do not understand that the universe in general, and themselves in particular, are mathematical in their very nature. Imagine how many calculations are done to catch a fly ball in left field. It is done effortlessly, and the calculations are done automatically without thinking. If we trained people to appreciate mathematics and logos rather than the mythos that the vast majority of people are indoctrinated into, just think of how far we as a species would progress. It is mind boggling.
Robin ,
I use screen captures and there are tutorials with the product. You may want to look through YouTube to see if there is something already created. I actually found APA tutorials that were better than anything I could make.
