Best method
As an instructor who has always taught in an asychronous manner, I am curious to hear how those who teach in a sychronous manner feel about which method work best (based on your own experiences) for both you and the students. I find that asychronous teaching would be more advantageous for students who can learn on their own time/pace. Comments?
Lauren,
True, I think we don't want to allow students to use the inability to adjust to certain learning as a barrier.

I believe it is important for students to have access to both types of learning techniques.

Dennis,
I agree, many students benefit from the synchronous chats, I use them for virtual office hours. Others can benefit from the recording.

Personally I think sychronous chats are a great supplement to the course materials most of which are delivered to students asychronously.
Cheers, Dennis
Mary,
I have taught both and I think both tools work for specific tasks. I do have virtual office hours using chats and skpe like tools. I don't use the phone much as I find it becomes more of a crutch for some of my students.
