Which one looks best?

How do you know which pair of shoes to put on at any given time - how do you measure the effectiveness?

I have an MFA. It makes me a certified expert in all things aesthetic.

I simply close my eyes and pick any two shoes that feel fine. Upon leaving my abode, I wait for acquaintances and strangers to comment on how I've made a mistake in my shoe choice. I then intellectually brutalize them with my vast knowledge of the bullcrap that is post-modernism, subjectivism (relativism), and deconstruction. Then I berate them for challenging my obvious mental superiority with their feeble-minded notions of good taste, common sense, or decency.

Effectiveness is measured in tears, outcry, and unencumbered rage.

It's a wonderful method to make friends.

Since you are looking at words used within a post, have you used a word cloud to assess the words of the group? Just a suggestion.

In addition to assessments, assignments, etc., I tend to use discussions “writing mood” to assess how the student effectiveness. The tone of writing (words used, message content, etc.). Many times I have called students to discuss how I can be assistance--providing a venue for student to vent and of course I take the opportunity to coach encourage greater communications, and so on. The intent is to motivate one-student-at-a-time. Must say so far has been with great success. Rolando

I have used student evaluations of course, but I have also used peer evaluations as a way to review my courses. I also ask particular questions for my own information that are not asked within formal evaluation.
