Feedback and Learning Objectives
The feedback try to positive and specific and detail. The feedback should be related to the learning objectives. I like to include the rubric in my feedback to students. The feedback should discuss ways to improve the assignment.
Charles,
Meaningful feedback is the key. Keep providing feedback so students can improve. Thanks for your input.
Feedback help student to learn from their mistakes, effective feedback is very important in student learning process.
Patricia,
You provide a great description of how you use the sandwich technique. Excellent.
Thank you.
I believe that feedback is required especially in an online course because the students are often insecure that they are completing an assignment correctly. I like using the sandwich technique. By providing feedback I like to start with a positive comment, such as nice job on completing the assignment. Then I follow up with how the work was performed and how it ties back to the objectives that are being taught. If technique corrections are necessary then those are mentioned. Then I complete the feedback with a positive statement to encourage the student. By using this technique it shows that the student's effort is valued and that someone is actually taking the time to read the assignment, and this will hopefully build a link between the instructor and the student. When dealing with online verses face to face it is more important to build that bond.

Fred,
Good job. Feedback should be positive and related back to the rubric as the rubric is tied to the learning objectives. All feedback should help the students improve. Thank you.
