Evaluations
I am of the opinion that evaluations are the most valuable feedback an online instructor can receive. Of course, not all evaluation will be patting the instructor on the back. Some evaluation will definitely highlight the instructor's weakness. These are the evaluations that are more valuable. I welcome evaluation that helps me to better myself at delivering the information to the students with maximum impact.

I definitely feel that student and peer evaluations help me improve both my course design and teaching. This is true in both on-line and traditional classroom classes. It is also helpful to have a fresh pair of eyes look at my syllabi and assignments every few semesters.

It's good to talk to your class about constructive feedback before they do the course evaluations. I always tell them I'm open to learning and doing things differently if they can constructively give me feedback. AND, we can't take it personally! ;-) Thanks!

I love that students have an opportunity to give their feedback on the course and even the instructor. Although, sometimes they can be quite harsh with their critiques, I always take the information and utilize it to help future classes.

Feedback from students can play a significant role in what we adjust before we teach the next class. I use formative feedback throughout the semester so the current students benefit from the edits to the course and not just the next class. Thanks for your input.
I also like evaluations. It is also important to for the feedback to be anonymous from students so they are more likely to provide honest feedback. I think that receiving that feedback promptly after the conclusion of the course is beneficial as well.
