Critical to successful online learning

Critical to successful online learning
As stated in the course given the same goals for a course, different instructors are likely to take different approaches to teach towards those goals. This is instructor academic freedom. I like that many professors can teach the same course many ways. I enjoy that the knowledge is a baseline for learning and passing the class but as a professor, we can teach this how we wish as long as the end goal is met. It is true as stated in the course that different professors are likely to adopt different instructional strategies, examples, and assignments as well as assessment measures. We all bring extensive knowledge of the subject matter being addressed in the course. It is wonderful that each professor can share his or her own experiences and examples. This creates a diverse learning environment that the students will benefit from.

Agnes,
Yes, there are differences in group dynamics from class to class. Leveraging those dynamics is an art.

Dr. S. David Vaillancourt

Flexibility and the ability to adapt is essential. There are different types of students every time. And, the approach to them needs to be adapted to ensure the maximum success. Not only does the subject matter vary, but also the group dynamics. Every classes teaches me something new.

Theresa,
This is a tremendous implementation. I'm sure your studnets benefit greatly.

Dr. S. David Vaillancourt

This is a true statement, however, each and every time I teach the same course I use different methods, I adapt to the students learning style, for example, when I teach medical terminology I have to use various ways to teach this course due to the subject matter, in some ways i may try game using the medical terminology and some i can use a drill that the students adapt to. We as instructors have to be able to adapt to the students for a better learning environment.
